Day 807 - Weights workout and Elliptical

I started out my day with a workout at 5:30 AM before work in the gym.  I did some Cybex machines and then did 30 minutes on the elliptical and burned about 300 calories.  It worked up a good sweat.

Day 806 - 5K Treadmill Run

I had a week where I was sick and then I was off to Myrtle Beach for a golf vacation last week. I'm finally back to working out and started off again with a treadmill run at the gym after work.

Day 805 - 5K Treadmill Run

I joined the gym here at work and tried it for the first time today before work.  It was nice because I was the only one there at 6:30 in the morning.  It was the first time I tried running on a treadmill and I found it to be much easier than running on a path or a road.  I'm not sure that's necessarily a good thing, but it's a nice alternative as the weather starts to get colder outside.  I did 5K pretty easily on the treadmill in just over 35 minutes.  I think going forward I should be able to up my pace and distance on the treadmill since it's easier than running outside.  I burned almost 400 calories, so I like that.

Day 804 - 5K Run

After work I went for a run in the park.  It was certainly harder than it used to be when I was doing this more often, but I got through it okay.

Day 803 - 5K Trail Run

It was a rainy morning when I woke up, so I had to wait for a break in the weather in order to go out for the run.  The rail was pretty sloppy, but that didn't phase me too much.  I found it harder to finish the run today since it's only been two days since I last ran. I stopped to walk for a bit a couple of times, but kept the breaks brief.  Humidity was way up, so by the time I was done I was sweating quite a lot.  I feel good about getting in two runs this week.

Day 802 - 5K Trail Run

I had the day off today, so I went for a run this morning.  The temperatures are starting to cool off a bit, so it was nice to get out in the morning and feel a bit of a chill in the air.  I can tell it's been a while since I've done Ab Ripper because my Abs are feeling it after doing the workout on Tuesday.  But, but legs recovered fine now from the run on Saturday.  Hopefully 2 days will be enough time to recover to allow me to run again on Saturday (weather permitting).

Day 801 - Chest + Back + Balance & Ab Ripper (P2/W6)

Great workout tonight I started with Ab Ripper and then finished up Chest + Back + Balance.  I'm feeling pumped up after that workout.  I'm also doing better with my eating so far this week.

Monday, September 29, 2014

Day 800 - Chest + Back + Balance & Plyocide mix (P2/W6)

I decided to mix in half of Chest + Back + Balance with half of Plyocide.  Wow, that was a workout considering it's been a couple of weeks since I last did any serious working out.  Now I just need to keep going and focus on burning some calories during most workouts.

Day 799 - 5K Run

Well, it's been a while since I last worked out because of a very busy schedule and taking my son out to school in Idaho. I finally got back to it with a 5K trail run.  I was able to set a reasonable pace and got the entire run done without having to stop for any breaks.  I've decided that I need to get more cardio into my workouts, so I plan to start doing more runs and more of phase 3 so that I can get my heart rate up more often.

Tuesday, September 16, 2014

Day 798- Ab Ripper & Chest + Back + Balance (P2/W5)

I started out the night by doing Ab Ripper.  It was a little tougher tonight than past attempts because it's been a few weeks since I last did this.  I thin finished my workout from last night with Chest + Back + Balance.  Lately I've been doing a bit better with my calorie intake.  I'm trying to stay under 2200 calories in an effort to lose a few of the pounds that have accumulated over the past few months.  I'm also focusing on drinking more water.

Day 797- Chest + Back + Balance (P2/W5)

Last week I decided to take the week off from workouts because I was feeling a bit under the weather and I then had to travel to take my son to school in Idaho.  So, I'm now back at it this week and started off with my typical Monday routine.  I did about 2/3 of the workout and will finish it up along with Ab Ripper tomorrow night.

Saturday, September 6, 2014

Day 796- 5K Trail Run & light workout (P2/W4)

I started off the day with a 5K trail run.  It was harder for me than last week.  I stopped a couple of times for a minute to catch my breath during the middle of the run.  This afternoon I decided to do a light workout of pushups and chin-ups.

Push-ups       50            40            30            30            30
Chin-ups               10             9              8              7                7

Day 795 - Chest + Back + Balance & Ab Ripper (P2/W4)

Last night I had a bunch of things to do for work, so I wasn't able to get a workout in.  Tonight I decided to start off with Ab Ripper to make sure to get it in for this week.  I then finished up the Chest + Back + Balance that I started on Monday.  It was a good workout.

I'm still not losing the pudge around my middle, but at least I'm doing okay at keeping some of the muscle tone going.

Monday, September 1, 2014

Day 794 - Chest + Back + Balance & Plyocide (P2/W4)

It's Labor Day, so I had the day off.  I ate a bit more than I should have, but the hamburgers and hotdogs are kind of part of Labor Day.  I got in my workout fine.  My legs are pretty sore from running on Saturday, but definitely better than how they felt yesterday.

Saturday, August 30, 2014

Day 793 - 5K Run & Ab Ripper & Chest + Back + Balance 2/2 (P2/W3)

Well, if I started the week slow on workouts, I ended it pretty strong.  I got out for a 5K trail run this morning and was happy that I was able to do it at a reasonable pace with no stops.  This afternoon I did Ab Ripper and then finished up the rest of Chest + Back + Balance.  I also threw in some time hitting a bucket of golf balls.  Good day.

Day 792 - Chest + Back + Balance 1/2 (P2/W3)

It's Friday and this is my first workout for the week because I was lazy on Monday and was traveling on Tuesday and Wednesday for work and was wiped out from the travel on Thursday because of minimal sleep.  So today I finally got in a workout by doing the first half of Chest + Back + Balance.  I plan to go out for a run tomorrow morning and then hopefully finish up this workout along with Ab Ripper in the afternoon.

Saturday, August 23, 2014

Day 791 - X2 Base & Back (P2/W2)

Wow, busy day today.  I got out for a round of golf with my son this morning.  There was a light off and on rain that allowed the greens to be very accommodating.  I shot a round of 81 (best of the year for me) with 7 of 9 holes on the back nine being pars.  My son almost had a hole in one on a par three.

Tonight I finally was able to do a round of Base & Back.  The last time I did this was back in March, so it's been quite a while.  I was able to do okay at it with some breaks throughout the workout.  I increase reps on some of the moved compared to March, but that's to be expected since I've been doing more workouts over the last couple of months compared to earlier in the year when I was still recovering from my back issues.  Still, that workout is brutal and it took the starch out of me.  As usual.

Day 790 - X2 Yoga (P2/W2)

Well, my daughter is off to college again as of today and my wife is going along to help take things back up to school, so it's just my son and me at home this weekend.  And he's working tonight, so I got home from work and it was just me and my dog Lucky (world's laziest beagle).  I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to convince myself to get around to doing Yoga tonight, but after a few minutes watching some really boring golf on TV, I decided that Yoga be a better option.  So, it's now about 70 minutes later and I'm sitting here enjoying a protein shake and feeling a sense of accomplishment for having worked out three nights in a row after a VERY slow start to the week.  As usual I did some chin-ups before starting the yoga workout and I got in 14 good chin-ups (arms straight).  I used to be able to do 16-17, so I still have some work to do to get back to that point.  One day at a time.

Thursday, August 21, 2014

Day 789 - Chest + Back + Balance & Plyocide (P2/W2)

I got in the second half of each of these workouts tonight.  I took it pretty slow, but that's okay because I put good effort into the workout.  I had a big lunch while out with my brother today, so I'm taking it each on the eating tonight.

It's still proving challenging for me to shed the extra weight I've put on, but I am determined to make it happen.

Wednesday, August 20, 2014

Day 788 - Chest + Back + Balance & Plyocide (P2/W2)

It's been almost a week since I last worked out.  Friday and Saturday I enjoyed a nice getaway with Kristi for our 27th anniversary.  Sundays I don't do much and then Monday and Tuesday nights I had to work late then then cut the grass because I wasn't able to do it on Saturday.  So, today I'm back to the workouts and it as no small feat to go through this combo workout for a second week.  Brutal, but so beneficial.  Eating wasn't exactly good over the weekend,so I need to take it easy for a while to "recover".

Tuesday, August 12, 2014

Day 787 - Chest + Back + Balance & Plyocide - Part 2 (P2/W1)

I finished up both workouts tonight.  It felt pretty good, but was a tough full body workout. I'm looking forward to having a lighter night tomorrow.  Depending on how my back feels I hope to try to do Ab Ripper.

Monday, August 11, 2014

Day 786 - Chest + Back + Balance & Plyocide (P2/W1)

I started phase 2 tonight.  At one point I thought it would be nice to take a week off in between phases, but I decided that I wasn't feeling like a rest week.  My back is feeling better tonight, so that's really good news considering I was in a lot of pain on Saturday night.  Tonight instead of doing Chest + Back + Balance and then doing Plyocide tomorrow, I decided to combine them.  I did half of each workout tonight and will do the other off of each tomorrow.  Then on Wednesday I'll do Ab Ripper.  Bring it.

Saturday, August 9, 2014

Day 785 - X2 Balance & Power (P1/W4)

I decided to skip the trail run today so that I would finally get to doing this workout.  I got through it okay, but some of the moves were ones that i didn't recall,so they were unfamiliar to me.  I strained my lower back a bit on one move so I had to be careful throughout the rest of the workout.  Having done 4 weeks of phase 1 it's now on to phase 2 again.

Friday, August 8, 2014

Day 784 - X2 Yoga (P1/W4)

I had a long day at work yesterday, so by the time I got home my motivation to workout was not there.  I started out today by playing 18 holes of golf with my son.  We had a great time and wasn't tired or sore from playing, so I decided to do a round of Yoga tonight.  Eating today has been pretty good so far.  Good thing too because yesterday was 2400 calories which is too high if I'm trying to lose a few pounds (which I am).

Thursday, August 7, 2014

Day 783 - Plyocide (P1/W4)

Had another good round of Plyocide.  I took one break, but didn't skip any of the steps in the workout, so progress continues.  Gotta keep on going.

Tuesday, August 5, 2014

Day 782 - X2 Core (P1/W4)

This is my last week of doing phase 1.  The workout tonight went well.  I was able to increase reps on a number of the moves, so it's helping to be doing this phase for four weeks straight now.  I still expect to take a "rest week" next week in between phases before starting phase 2, so I need to get the most out of the workouts this week.  Still no weight loss as a rest of the three weeks of working out.  Clothing is still a bit snug, but better than when I started.

Saturday, August 2, 2014

Day 781 - 5K Run

I was hoping to stay on schedule this week, but last night I had an evening out with Kristi and we didn't get home in time for me to do Yoga.  I went for a trail run this morning and found it to be difficult for me.  I had to stop to walk at times for a short break, but then went back to running pretty quickly.  Not every day can be great and I'm okay with that.  The key is that I'm continuing to put in the effort.

Thursday, July 31, 2014

Day 780 - X2 Total Body (P1/W3)

Well, tonight was one of those nights where I was sort of feeling my age a bit.  My shoulders were popping and all sorts of things going on that are not good for lifting dumbbells. So I had to modify on a couple of moves and replace with pushups, but I still got through the workout without having to take a lot of shortcuts.  I did however still add a couple of breaks because (Wow) some of the moves are just brutal on the muscles.  I will be looking forward to the stretching in Yoga tomorrow.

Wednesday, July 30, 2014

Day 779 - X2 Ab Ripper (P1/W3)

Ab Ripper done tonight.  Short and easy, so it pretty much seemed like a rest night to me tonight.

Day 778 - X2 Plyocide (P1/W3)

I got in a good round of Plyocide.  I didn't have to modify or take breaks, so that's an improvement from past weeks.  So, I'm on track to get all of the workouts in for this week.  Tomorrow I plan to do Ab Ripper so that Thursday isn't a really long night (X2 Total Body is enough by itself).  Feeling good.

Tuesday, July 29, 2014

Day 777 - X2 Core (P1/W3)

It's day one of the third week of doing X2 and while I don't feel any thinner, I can tell that the routine of working out more often is helping.  I had very little soreness after doing this workout tonight.  It still worked up quite a sweat, so I know it's helping.  Now I just need to really start to focus on healthy eating.  I think I've been indulging in too many post-workout carbs at night.  My protein level is still in the range of 115-130 grams per day, so that's going well.  It's my goal this week to get through all of the workouts on schedule.

Saturday, July 26, 2014

Day 776 - 5K Trail Run

I went for a run this morning and it started to rain pretty heavy after I started, so I got to do a wet run.  Not a big deal, but it made the trail a bit sloppy.  Once again I made it all the way without having to stop, so that's definitely progress. I didn't workout yesterday because I played a round of golf with my brother in the afternoon.  I definitely overdid the calories yesterday because we stopped for Mexican after golf and I had Chicken Fajitas.  Yum.  I don't want to be over-doing it like that too often.  Today has been better with eating so far.

Thursday, July 24, 2014

Day 775 - X2 Total Body (P1/W2)

All I can say is"Wow".  That is a brutal workout.  I get very close to my best set of reps for this workout, so definitely better than last week, but t sure did get my heart rate up.  But, that's good since I'm trying to get back into the swing of P90X2 workouts.

Wednesday, July 23, 2014

Day 774 - X2 Ab Ripper (P1/W2)

Tonight is supposed to be my rest night, but that would mean having to do X2 Total Body followed by Ab Ripper (which would be almost 90 minutes), so I opted to do Ab ripper tonight by itself.  It went fine, so happy about that.  I weighed in this morning and was a bit disappointed to see that my 2 lbs lost was actually just a brief fluctuation in weight.  I'm still at 148, so I guess I just need to be a bit more patient with the process.

Tuesday, July 22, 2014

Day 773 - X2 Plyocide (P1/W2)

I'm on track to stay on schedule for this week.  I got through Plyocide and boy did that work up a sweat.  It's broken down into5 sets of 4 different moves with a break in between each set.  I extended the breaks by about a minute each to allow my heart rate to come back down to a reasonable level, but I didn't skip anything in the workout.

I sure did feel good to get through that tonight.

Monday, July 21, 2014

Day 772 - X2 Core (P1/W2)

It's week two of phase 1 as of today and it's my second time doing X2 Core.  Some of the moves were a bit easier this time around, but still quite a workout.  It causes me to sweat a lot more than phase 2 Chest + Back + Balance.  Tomorrow I plan to do Plyocide on schedule and then hopefully do Ab Ripper on Wednesday since I wasn't able to add it on to the end of X2 Total Body.

As of this morning I've lost about 2 pounds, so getting back into a regular routine is already paying off.  More importantly clothing is not quite as snug, so happy about that.I just need to keep the motivation going.

Saturday, July 19, 2014

Day 771 - 5K Run

I got out his morning and did my 5K trail run.  I was determined to not have to stop and walk during this run and I succeeded at running the whole distance.  I was also hoping to do some sort of X2 workout tonight, but work around the house took priority and my legs were pretty wiped out from the run.
so, this week I got in 4 X2 workouts and a run.  Not bad.

Friday, July 18, 2014

Day 770 - X2 Yoga (P1/D4)

So, some good news.  Less soreness today.  I got through the Yoga workout without much issues tonight.  So much easier than the last three workouts, but it felt really good by the time I was done.  I'm really glad that my back is allowing me to get into full swing again on these workouts.

I'm trying to do better with eating.  Yesterday I stayed to about 2000 calories.  Today will probably be a bit higher because I was surprised with my wife bringing home two pizzas tonight for dinner.  I had two slice of cheese.  I have to admit that it tasted amazing.

Thursday, July 17, 2014

Day 769 - X2 Total Body (P1/D3)

I'm still pretty sore from the last two days of working out, but I didn't let that stop me from doing the workout tonight.  I enjoyed this workout, but also found some of the moves to be a good challenge because it's been such a long time since I've done them.  Tonight was also supposed to include Ab Ripper, but by the time I got done with this hour of working out I was sweating buckets and decided that throwing in Ab Ripper would be overdoing it.

Wednesday, July 16, 2014

Day 768 - Plyocide (P1/D2)

Well, it's day 2 of Phase 1 and all I can say is "OUCH".  My hips are screaming after that workout last night and then adding in this one tonight.  It's been quite a while since I did the entire Plyocide workout and I have to say that I am not in the kind of shape that I was a year ago.  The sweat was pouring off of me by the time I was done tonight.  There was a part of me that was not looking forward to a follow-up to last night's workout, but I'm glad I had the willpower to get this done tonight.  It's hard to believe there was a time when I thought that phase 1 wasn't that tough.  A side benefit of getting back to doing full workouts is that I'm not as hungry all the time.  Maybe that's because I'm too tired to care :-)

It's only day 2 of getting back into this, so I know there is more fun to come.

Tuesday, July 15, 2014

Day 767 - X2 Core (P1/D1)

Well, I stepped on the scale this morning and was quite disappointed to find that I am now up to 148 (which is 10 pounds heavier than when I was my lightest).  I've been thinking it's time for me to re-commit to doing P90X2 for 90 days again, so today starts the process.  I'm starting again with phase 1 and will be doing the full program for the next 3 months (1 month per phase).

I did X2 Core tonight and was surprised and how much of a good workout that was.  I kept remembering it as being easier than phase 2, but in reality it's not easier.  It's just different.  I worked up quite a sweat tonight.

Saturday, July 12, 2014

Day 766 - 5K Run

I got out this morning for my usual 5K trail run.  I got to the halfway point before I had to take a breather and walk for s bit, so that's better than last week.  I'm hoping to keep on doing a run at least once a week.

Friday, July 11, 2014

Day 765 - X2 Ab Ripper & Chest + Back + Balance (2/2)

I finally got the the second half of the workout tonight.  It felt pretty good.  I'm doing 50 pushups on the nights when I don't workout, so I think that's helping me to have an easier time with the pushup moves when I do this workout.  Ab Ripper also went pretty well, so happy about that.

Day 764 - Chest + Back + Balance (1/2)

It's Tuesday night and I just finished the workout that I would have normally done on Monday.  But, this week I'm getting a slow start, so I'm doing this a day late.  No real issues with getting through the workout tonight.  Eating is also going okay.  My weight right now is pretty stable at 145 9according to my scale).  I still would like to lose a few of those pounds, but am also glad that it's not going up more at this point.

Monday, July 7, 2014

Day 763 - 5K Run/Walk

I went out for my morning trail run today and quickly realized that I was going to have to walk some of the time because I haven't been running as often as I should.  I stopped at times for a brief walk along the run, but then got back to running as I was able and got through the 5K.  I need more cardio in my workouts.

Day 762 - X2 Yoga

I'm logging this entry a few days late, but on Friday I got in my Yoga workout after a fun day of July 4th celebration with family.  I had set up a frisbee golf range at my house and we played that after eating a wonderful (albeit not healthy) picnic lunch.  There are a lot of things weighing on my mind including the passing of my father the day before (July 3rd), so having some time to relax with Yoga felt really good.

Tuesday, July 1, 2014

Day 761 - X2 Ab Ripper & Chest + Back + Balance (2/2)

Okay, so day two of this week includes a workout.   That's two for two so far this week.  After my good start and terrible finish to last week I need to make a concerted effort to do a better job of keeping it going.  My plan is to do Plyocide tomorrow night.

Monday, June 30, 2014

Day 760 - X2 Chest + Back + Balance (1/2)

Well, last week I started off okay, but didn't get to do the workouts later in the week because of so much going on.  This week I need to find a way to make sure to do better.  I'm also committing myself to do better on my calorie count for the month of July, so no days over 2200 at all.  Time to get rid of some of the "butter".  Tonight's workout went pretty well.  I listened to an audio book while I was workig out, so that helped to pass the time easily.

Wednesday, June 25, 2014

Day 759 - P.A.P. Lower

Well, I guarantee my legs are going to be sore again tomorrow because that was a tough workout again.  So that's two days in a row this week.  I'm on schedule for my plan.  Rest day tomorrow, yoga on Friday and my normal weekly run on Saturday.  Gotta keep it going.

Tuesday, June 24, 2014

Day 758 - P.A.P. Upper

It's a new week and I opted to take the day off on Monday and start the workouts tonight.  Since I got so much benefit from doing PAP Lower last week I decided to do PAP Upper then Lower for the first two days this week.  I'll then take the day off on Thursday and do Yoga on Friday and my weekly run on Saturday.  At least that's the plan.  PAP Upper was a good workout tonight.  The plank on a Med Ball move always gets me sweating buckets.  The last couple of days I've been over on calories, but today has been better.

Saturday, June 21, 2014

Day 757 - 5K trail run

I got up this morning and got out for a trail run.  My legs and rear we still pretty sore from PAP Lower, so that made running a bit of a challenge, but I got it done.  The weather was a bit cooler and there was a very light rain at times.  That made for nice conditions (at least I think so).  As usual there was nobody else out on the trail at 7:30 in the morning, so it was a nice secluded run.

Breakfast before the run was a protein bar and a cup of yogurt.  After I had two hard boiled eggs and will make up a protein with some frozen strawberries in it. Yum.Then it's on to the many tasks of the day.

Friday, June 20, 2014

Day 756 - X2 Yoga

My day started off by playing 18 holes of golf. I then came home, relaxed for a bit, went out to dinner with my wife and son and then did X2 Yoga.  It's been a busy day.  Yoga was a bit rough tonight because of doing PAP Lower last night.  My legs were pretty sore from being away from that workout for a while.  Doing yoga tonight should help to loosen up some of the sore muscles.

While golfing today I had a cheeseburger.  It's been quite a while since I've had one of those and I have to admit it tasted delicious.  I made up for the indulgence since I had a salad from Saladworks for dinner.  I'm pretty steady at about 145 according to my scale.  I would like to get that down to more in the 140-142 range before too long.  That shouldn't be too difficult if I keep up with this workouts like I'm doing this week.

Day 755 - P.A.P. Lower

I was going to do Plyocide, but decided I wanted to do a workout with more strength moves for the lower body, so I decided to do P.A.P. Lower instead.  I've been focusing on phase 2 for a while now, so doing a phase 3 workout was not easy.  By the time I was done I worked up quite a sweat and my legs were pretty tired.

Day after:  I'm logging this entry and my rear is sore from that workout last night.  I just played 18 holes of golf and I was a bit sore. I need to find ways to work phase 3 into my workout routine more.

Tuesday, June 17, 2014

Day 754 - Ab Ripper & Chest + Back + Balance (2/2)

I got in a good workout of Ab Ripper and finished up the workout form last night.  Tomorrow I plan to either do a 5K run or do Plyocide. Not sure yet which I will end up doing.  Eating was okay today except that Kristi made Leon Chicken for dinner.  Not exactly healthy, but I eat what is put on the table.  It was delicious too.

I've decided that until I get back to the point where I fit comfortably back into my pants I'm going to adopt a higher-protein lower-card diet to help me shed some of the extra pounds.  In body building it's called the "cutting phase", but I'm not planning to take it to the extreme that they usually do.

My back continues to feel really good as I continue to get into the groove again with workouts.  I am extremely grateful for that considering how much I had injured it.

Day 753 - X2 Chest + Back + Balance (1/2)

Well, it's Monday again (actually it's Tuesday night right now, but I'm late with logging this) which means another round of Chest + Back + Balance.  I got through it okay, but felt a little twinge of pain in the lower abdomen area which I think is a slight hernia that I've dealt with for most of my life.  It wasn't bad, but I took the moves with a bit of caution just in case the workout was aggravating things.  I've noticed that I've been putting on both muscle and fat some.  Muscle because the workout moves are getting easier.  Some fat because clothing is fitting more snug than I would like. I'm trying to keep my calories at around 2200, but at times not succeeding.  I need to do better at my eating.

Saturday, June 14, 2014

Day 752 - 5K Run

I got an early start this morning with my 5K Trail run.  I was on the trail by a little after 7 AM.  The weather was perfect, but the trail was pretty wet from all of the rain we've had recently.  When I got home from the run I had to hose down my running shoes to get all of the mud off.  I took the run at a comfortable pace because it's been a couple of weeks since I last ran.  I liked that I was the only one on the trail for almost the entire time.  I had my ear buds in listening to some music whiel I ran and found it really relaxing to be out there on my own.

Day 751 - X2 Yoga

Well, it's been a while since I last did Yoga because of the muscle strain in my back.  I finally was able to get back to doing this and I can certainly tell that it's been a while.  I was struggling some, but I got through it.  And my back feels good, so happy about that.  tomorrow I plan to go for a run in the morning.

I was talking with some friends on Wednesday night and they mentioned a desire to do the Ragnar race next year.  https://www.ragnarrelay.com/

I'm hoping to be able to do that with them, so I need to get into doing a bit more running to get my endurance up.  It woudl be nice to have a new goal to work toward.

Day 750 - Chest + Back + Balance (2/2) & Ab Ripper

Day 2 of getting back into the swing of things with my workouts.  Ab Ripper was tough because it's been a while since I last did it because of back muscle strains.  My back is feeling much better and I had no issue with the workout tonight, so I'm encouraged by that.  Now I just need to keep up the focus.

Day 749 - Chest + Back + Balance (1/2)

It's Monday night and I got in a good workout tonight after a week away from workouts because of family commitments that occupied all of my time.  It felt good to get back to working out.  Over the next 3 weeks I need to do a better job of watching what I eat and making sure to get in at least 4 days of workouts per week so that I can get back into a good routine.

Day 748 - X2 Chest + Back + Balance (1/2)

Monday night I had Stephen's last high school orchestra concert to attend and tonight I have his high school graduation to go to.  Thankfully last night I was able to do my workout to get in some time at exercise.  I'll finish the routine on Thursday and hopefully throw in Ab Ripper since my back strain seems to be getting better.  Eating is going okay except for the burger I had last night at Cheeburger Cheeburger where we went to celebrate Stephen graduating.  I had the 1/4 pounder (actually 5.5 ounces).  Stephen had the Pounder (which is actually 18 ounces of beef) and he finished it so he got his picture on the wall.

Nice picture with the stuffed burger.

Day 747 - 5K Trail Run

I got in a 5K run this morning.  This picture is the trail when it gets to a bit more remote section.  It was a really nice day for a run.  Eating is also going well.

I got to the doctor for a med recheck and found out that my blood pressure is a bit higher than it has been in the past.  I guess I need to watch my salt intake.

Day 746 - Plyocide

I would normally do the second half of Chest + Back + Balance tonight along with Ab Ripper, but I decided to give my back muscles a break, so I did Plyocide instead.  Wow, that workout is definitely harder than it used to be.  I need to continue to try to focus on exercise that gives me a cardio workout like this. I was literally dripping sweat in the middle of this workout.

Day 745 - Chest + Back + Balance (1/2)

I'm a day late posting this.  The workout last night was my normal Monday workout, but done a day late because Monday was Memorial Day and I was busy doing some fun things like canoeing on the lake with my younger daughter Nicole. I was also doing lots of things that are not really all too fun like having to replace a battery in our truck after it decided to die on me.  Eating on Monday was also higher than normal because of good picnic food.  So, the workout on Tuesday was a much needed workout.  It went pretty well.  I did strain a muscle in my back a bit, but not to bad.

Day 744 - 5k run

I got out for a morning trail run, but didn't do much else.  The run was okay.  I was les worried about the pace and decided to just enjoy the run.

Day 743 - X2 Plyocide/Shoulders + Arms mix

Tonight I decided to do a mixture of Plyocide and Shoulder + Arms.  It was a good workout that made me feel like I need to do these workouts more often.  Lately I've just been doing Chest + Back and it's leaving quite a gap in areas that get worked.  I was sweating up a storm by the time I was done with this workout.  Tomorrow I was supposed to do X2 Yoga, but I need to be on a campout, so not sure how I'm going to get that done. Maybe on Saturday after my run.

Wednesday, May 21, 2014

Day 742 - Chest + Back + Balance (1/2)

I got home tonight after a long day at work and was dreading (a bit) the idea of doing this workout.  But I knew that I couldn't let another day get away from me without doing an upper-body workout.  I got through it and kept the reps about the same as normal, but some of the pushup moves were a bit harder than I've experienced in the past.  Good news is that I got it done, so I'm feeling pretty good now.

Day 741 - 5k Run

Last night I decided to not work out because our well pump was in the process of being replaced so there was no way for me to take a shower after my workout.  Today I went for a 5K run after work.   As before, running around the park by work was not easy.  At one point I had to stop and walk for a couple tenths of a mile, but then got back to running. I'm not too worried about things like that because I'm listening to what my body tells me and my heart rate was up pretty high after doing the hill climb the second time and my body said it was time to walk for a bit. No problem, I can do that.  If I can keep up two runs per week it's really going to help me with endurance.

Saturday, May 17, 2014

Day 740 - 5k Trail run

I was hoping to do X2 Yoga last night, but I thought it would be good to wait one more week before pushing it too much with my lower back.  I did get out for a nice run this morning and then spent the rest of the day doing yard work and things around the house.  The run was pretty good.  If I can continue to get in two runs per week I think it's going to help me get some of my cardio endurance back.

Day 739 - Chest + Back + Balance (2/2)

I finished up the workout from Tuesday tonight.  It went a lot better tonight than it had on Tuesday.  I've been in a two-day training session at work which included way too much food.  It's once again time to get back to eating better.

Day 738 - X2 Chest + Back + Balance (1/2)

I'm late posting this.  I did this workout on Tuesday night.  It was not easy for me to get through this because I did this workout right after we went out to dinner at Cracker Barrel and I had pancakes, bacon and eggs.  That was pretty heavy to eat right before working out and my body definitely didn't like it.  Lesson learned.

Tuesday, May 13, 2014

Day 737 - 5k Run/Walk

I'm posting this a day late.  I went out for a run yesterday at lunch.  It was hot and humid and that took a bit if the starch out of me.  I got to about the 2.7 mile mark and decided to walk the rest of the way.  My heart rate was up and I was feeling tired, so I didn't want to over do it.  Could be that I need to hydrate more on days like that because I was sweating a lot during that run.

Tuesday, May 6, 2014

Day 736 - 5K Run

I'm still giving my back some time to rest.  It's getting better, but I am still avoiding workouts that might strain it again.  So, instead I decided to get in a run today during lunch.  The run went okay, but that last lap around the park is pretty brutal.

Tonight for dinner we had a slice of Chicago deep dish pizza, so that put a hurting on the calorie count for the day.  Other than that I did okay today on eating.

Saturday, May 3, 2014

Day 735 - 5K trail (mud) run

I decided to give my back muscle a rest after it was hurting some from Ab Ripper.  Two days off and using Icy hot patches on the muscle is helping.  I got out for a run this morning early and it went pretty well except for the fact that the trail was very muddy.  I'm back to wearing my fitbit for a while as encouragement to keep moving.  I hot over 15,000 steps today.  Eating is going pretty well this week.

Wednesday, April 30, 2014

Day 734 - X2 Ab Ripper & Chest + Back + Balance (2/2)

Well, it was a normal Tuesday workout.  Ab Ripper definitely didn't help my back issues, but I'm icing it down and hope that I can give it a break for a day or two to allow it to recover some.  I am continuing to control my eating in hopes of allowing that to help me drop a couple of the pounds that I've put on recently.

Monday, April 28, 2014

Day 733 - X2 Chest + Back + Balance (1/2)

After taking last week off as a rest week, I'm now back at it.  I also got in some golf last year in spite of the stretched muscle in my lower back.  I was feeling it a bit tonight, but was able to get through the workout okay.  I'm now icing the muscle in my back to help with recovery.

Day 732 - X2 Yoga

Well, It's my birthday today.  I'm 49 years old and some days it feels like I am. Fortunately today was not one of those days.  Last night the family took me out to Joe's Crab Shack.  I got the lobster and Crab legs and avoided the corn and potatoes, so it was fairly healthy for a place like that.  This morning however was a different story.  We went out to breakfast at Shady Maple smorgasbord and I basically ate about 1000 calories for breakfast.  I would have been okay for the day on calories, but we had cake and ice cream tonight.  Oh well, luckily I don't do this every day.  X2 Yoga today was really good.  I did it right before dinner, so now I'm relaxing after dinner and enjoying the down time.

Friday, April 18, 2014

Day 731 - 5K morning run

I decided to not do a workout last night because I had a really tough time trying to sleep on Wednesday night and was feeling exhausted by the time I got home from work.  Last night I was able to sleep better and was feeling more refreshed this morning.  Tonight the family is taking me to Joe's Crab Shack for dinner for my birthday and then we're going to Shady Maple smorgasbord for breakfast tomorrow, so that puts a bit of a crimp in the plans to workout tonight or get a run in tomorrow morning.  So, I got my 5K run in here at work this morning early and I plan to do my yoga workout tomorrow as time allows.  I ran around the park and it seemed a lot easier than it was when I did it last week.  There was less wind today, but I also felt like my legs were stronger this week.

Wednesday, April 16, 2014

Day 730 - Ab Ripper & Chest + Back + Balance (2/2)

I started off the workout tonight with Ab Ripper.  I was able to attach it with more intensity than in past times doing it.  Also, the reps for the rest of Chest+ Back + Balance were a bit better than last week (especially on pushup moves).  I've decided that I need to cut back on my calories for a while, so dropping from 2400 to 2200 until I'm able to lose some of the "butter" around the middle.  I plan to try the reduced calories for the next 4 weeks to see how things go.

Monday, April 14, 2014

Day 729 - Chest + Back + Balance (1/2)

Well, I got in my normal Monday workout again this week.  I'm pretty happy that I'm continuing to find the motivation to keep going on phase 2 for this many weeks.  It's making a difference in my arms and chest.  I weighed myself this morning and am now up to 146,so I'm adding some weights. Some of it is muscle and some is not.  I think I'll need to go into a "cutting phase" for my diet soon where I will reduce carbs substantially for a few weeks to shed some of the extra fat that is accumulating.  Right now I'm happy that I'm gaining some weight in terms of muscle, so I don't want to drastically modify my diet just yet.

Day 728 - X2 Yoga

It was perfect Spring weather today.  I had been out for a run earlier in the week and my legs were still feeling pretty sore, so I decided to switch Yoga from Friday to Saturday.  Since I decided to not run today I set right to work getting some things done around the house.  I also got out and hit some golf balls at the driving range with my son Stephen.  After dinner I did Yoga and was glad that I did. A while back I had strained my lower back doing something (I don't even recall what it was at this point).  It's not a bad strain, but continue to nag me.  It seemed that doing yoga helped to stretch things out a bit and help it to feel better.

Thursday, April 10, 2014

Day 727 - 5K run

I got out for a run during lunch today.  I did my normal 5K around the park.  It was not easy.  I haven't been running as much lately, so by the time I was climbing the hill on the path the second time around I was really feeling it.  Of course, the headwind blasting me while climbing the hill certainly didn't help.  I had a couple of time when I thought I was going to have to walk it for a bit, but I stuck it out and stayed running, but the pace was pretty awful (I didn't time it).  I need to get out running more often.

Tuesday, April 8, 2014

Day 726 - X2 Ab Ripper & Chest + Back + Balance (2/2)

I started off with Ab ripper and then finished Chest + Back + Balance.  In other words, a normal Tuesday workout.  Ab ripper seemed easier this time around.  And I was able to increase reps on some of the moves for the Chest + Back + Balance.  But, those Chattarocker pushups are evil.  By the time I got to those it was all I could do to get 10 done with proper form.

Monday, April 7, 2014

Day 725 - X2 Chest + Back + Balance (1/2)

I did my normal Monday workout, but was able to increase reps on a few moves again tonight.  it was a good workout.I just keep plugging away and trying to keep the momentum going.  I'm happy that I', feeling pretty good despite continuing to increase the reps.

Saturday, April 5, 2014

Day 724 - 5K Trail run

I was finally able to get out for a run on my favorite trail.  I was pleasantly surprised to find that it wasn't as wet as I thought it was going to be.  The run was a bit tougher than it was when I was doing it last year because I haven't been running as frequently.  Hopefully now that the weather is getting better I'll have less excuses to keep me from getting out running.

Friday, April 4, 2014

Day 723 - X2 Yoga

I got  a good round of Yoga in tonight  That was so much easier than the round of Plyocide last night.  The stretching felt really good.  We went out to dinner tonight and got some Mexican food at On the Border.  I was pleasantly surprised to find a healthy Chicken dish on the menu (<500 Calories).  With that and the healthy lunch from SaladWorks today the eating has gone really well today.

Thursday, April 3, 2014

Day 722 - X2 Plyocide

I got a full round of Plyocide in tonight with very few extra breaks.  My heart rate was up to about 170 at one point, so I know I wasn't slacking during the workout.  Wow, I can tell that I've been away from full workouts of that routine because it was a really good sweat generator.  I'm doing okay on eating and getting back into the workouts.  Now I just need to get out running a bit more often and I'll be happy with my progress.  Here's hoping the weather is accommodating on Saturday because I'm hoping to get back to a run on my favorite trail in Hibernia Park.

Tuesday, April 1, 2014

Day 721 - X2 Ab Ripper & Chest + Back + Balance (remainder)

I started off with Ab Ripper and then finished Chest + Back + Balance that I started last night.  I like getting Ab Riper done before the upper body workout.  Ab Ripper was a lot easier than last week when I did it at the end.  Much better this way.  I weighed myself this week and I'm down a couple of pounds, but even more important is that clothing is fitting better again and I'm increasing some muscle mass in my upper body.  I was able to increase some reps tonight again, so I just need to keep going at this.  My back continues to feel pretty good (not perfect, but good enough).

Monday, March 31, 2014

Day 720 - X2 Chest + Back + Balance (1/2)

I did my normal workout tonight for a Monday.  To be a bit different I did it without the CD playing tonight since I have he workout sheet and know the moves by heart.  I too it at a bit more relaxed of a pace tonight and watched a TV show while I was working out.  It allowed me to get more reps done because I wasn't pushing the pace.  I can tell that staying focused on phase 2 is working for me.  Chest and arms are increasing in size some.  Woohoo.

Thursday, March 27, 2014

Day 719 - Hybrid workout

Tonight I decided to make up my own hybrid workout. For those that are familiar with X2, I substituted rounds 2 and 4 of Plyocide with two rounds of Shoulders & Arms. Consider it a slightly different form of a killer Base & Base workout. That was way harder than I thought it would be, but it was a really good workout.

Tuesday, March 25, 2014

Day 718 - X2 Ab Ripper

Tonight I started my workout by finishing up the workout from last night and then did Ab Ripper afterward.  I usually do Ab Ripper first, but decided to do it afterward.  I was surprised by how much harder it was to do it after the upper body workout.  I think I like to it first.

Monday, March 24, 2014

Day 717 - X2 Chest + Back + Balance (part 1)

It's Monday and I'm on my normal (current) schedule of 2/3 of this workout with the plan to finish it up tomorrow with Ab Ripper.  I noticed that Shoulder's + Arms are pretty tough on my left shoulder.  I think I may find out that I should limit how often I do that one. Or I may need to modify to avoid doing the Arnold Press move.  It's just a bit too tough on my shoulders.  Tonight's workout was good.  I increased reps on a couple of moves.

Saturday, March 22, 2014

Day 716 - 5K morning run & X2 Shoulders + Arms

Weather is finally starting to warm up.  It's 4:00 in the afternoon as I write this and it's 65 degrees outside.  I went for my run this morning at about 8:30 and it was just under 40 degrees at that point.  I did my usual 5K.  I was hoping to try the trail, but I suspect it's still too sloppy to try it yet because of all of the melting of snow.  Getting back into a workout rhythm seems to be helping because I didn't have any issues getting the run completed today. I didn't have to stop during the run, so that's an improvement since the last run I did two weeks ago. Tonight I also did Shoulders + Arms.  It's been literally 4 months since I last did this workout because of my back issues.  Now that my back is feeling better I decided to give it a go again.  It seemed to go okay.  Not too many issues.  I was a bit careful about not overdoing it.

Day 715 - X2 Yoga

Last night we went to the mall food court for dinner.  As usual Kristi and I  got our salads from SaladWorks and our son Stephen got a bacon double cheese burger and fries from five guys.  He tries to work out with P90X2, but I don't think he quite gets the idea of eating healthy.  Must be good to be 17 years old.  Yoga was great.  I got through it with no issue.

Thursday, March 20, 2014

Day 714 - X2 Plyocide

I got in a good Plyocide workout tonight. I was sweating up a storm by the time I was done.  I weighed in this morning and am still at 145, so I still need to get that number down a bit, but I'm also noticing that I'm getting some of the muscle back now that I'm back into more of a routine with the workouts.  Tomorrow I plan to do X2 Yoga.  I didn't do it last week and I'm sorry that I didn't it's too beneficial to be skipping it.

Day 713 - Ab Ripper

I forgot to post this workout.  On Tuesday I finished the workout that I started on Monday and then did Ab Ripper. Not a tough night, but definitely beneficial.

Monday, March 17, 2014

Day 712 - X2 Chest + Back + Balance

I did my normal Monday workout, but switched things up a bit by listing to an audio book while doing it.  It was a simple thing to do since I have a count of reps for each of the moves and could almost recite the workout verbatim anyway.  I increased reps on a couple of the moves tonight, so I'm happy about that.  Eating is also going well so far today.  My goal this week is at least 4 days of working out (hopefully 5).

Sunday, March 16, 2014

Day 711 - X2 Base + Back

It's been a few days since I last worked out, so it felt good to get back at it. Base + Back is a tough workout and as I sit here writing this ( the day following) I can feel it in my legs and back side.  This coming week I need to do a better job of making the workouts a more regular thing.

Wednesday, March 12, 2014

Day 710 - X2 Ab Ripper

I finished up the workout from last night and then did Ab Ripper. Good workout tonight.

Tuesday, March 11, 2014

Day 709 - Chest + Back + Balance

I took the night off last night, so I got n the first half of the workout tonight instead. I plan to finish it up tomorrow night along with Ab Ripper. I weighed in today at 145, so I need to start doing better with my eating.

Saturday, March 8, 2014

Day 708 - 5k run & PAP Upper

The weather was actually pretty nice today. It was above 40 when I got out for my run. I did 5k, but had to stop at half way and walk for a minute before making the turn. My initial pace was pretty quick, so that explains being wiped at the halfway mark.

This afternoon I did PAP Upper. That felt good to work the upper body and lower all in one day. I also stayed within my 2400 calories today. Bonus.

Friday, March 7, 2014

Day 707 - X2 Yoga

Okay, Wednesday was a rest day and I just plain slacked off on Thursday because it was a brutal work day and I felt like crap by the time I got home.  But, tonight I got back into the swing of things by doing X2 Yoga.  I did do Yoga last week, so it's good that I didn't skip again.  I also did 14 chin-ups before the Yoga workout. Tomorrow the weather is supposed to be better, so I plan to get out for a run in the morning.  I'm actually looking forward to that.

Tuesday, March 4, 2014

Day 706 - X2 Ab Ripper

Tonight I started off with Ab Ripper and then finished the rest of the workout that I had started last night with Chest + Back + Balance. It wasn't too bad tonight, so I suspect it won't be long until I can get through the workout without having to split it. But, I must confess that I like doing it over a 2-night span because it allows my arms to recover some and get a quick second workout to build muscle.  Eating went pretty well today. Yesterday I was way too high on calories, so hopefully tonight I can do a better job of keeping my eating in check.

Monday, March 3, 2014

Day 705 - Chest + Back + Balance

I got in my workout tonight. I did about 2/3 of this workout and plan to finish it tomorrow along with Ab Ripper. I can start to see some definition returning, so that is encouraging me to keep up with the workouts. My back continues to feel pretty good. Lately I've been eating more, so I have to be careful not to overdo the calories. I'm staying pretty steady at 142 right now.

Saturday, March 1, 2014

Day 704 - Base & Back

It's been months since I last did this workout, so I had some doubts about trying it.  But, I had my last visit (hopefully) to the physical therapist this week and he said I was now doing well enough that I should be able to continue to manage my ongoing recovery from home.  So, I thought I would give this workout a try again.  I remember it being quite the cardio workout and once again it didn't disappoint on that.  I considered skipping the second half and doing Ab ripper instead, but decided to try to get all the way through it.  I'm glad I did.  I'm pretty tired after finishing, but I know I got a lot out of it.

Day 703 - 5K Run in Florida

I forgot to post this on Wednesday. I was in Orlando for a conference, so I got out for a 5K run in the morning in some nice weather.  My time was around 8:45/mile.  Not great, but not terrible either.  It's was extremely flat, so that helped some.  Later that day I spent the entire day walking around the conference from booth to booth.  One of the guys I was with had a fitbit on and he said we did 17,000 steps that day.  Okay, that will work.

Monday, February 24, 2014

Day 702 - Chest + Back + Balance

Right now my typical weekly flow has been to split this workout across two days while I'm ramping back up on workouts, but I'm heading off to Florida for a conference tomorrow, so I don't have that option.  So, instead I did 3/4 of the workout tonight.  I was also able to increase reps on a couple of the moves.  My arms feel pumped after that workout.  Love it.

Saturday, February 22, 2014

Day 701 - 5k Run

I woke up this morning and planned to go out for a run right away until I was driving to the running trail and realized it was only 24 degrees outside, so I decided to wait and do the run later in the morning.I'm glad I did because even at 11:30 the trail was still pretty slick in spots.  I was happy that I was able to get through the run okay without having to stop.  I wasn't exactly setting a staggering pace, but I did work up a pretty good sweat.

Friday, February 21, 2014

Day 700 - X2 yoga

I got in a good yoga workout tonight. Healthy eating is also going pretty well. All is going well right now. I'm planning on a run tomorrow since is supposed to be 50 degrees.

Thursday, February 20, 2014

Day 699 - X2 Plyocide

I decided to take my rest day yesterday, so I did Plyocide tonight.  Good workout and my back feels good, so I feeling pretty good about things.  I worked up quite a sweat tonight.  I weighed in this morning and was pretty happy to see that my weight is 141.

Tuesday, February 18, 2014

Day 698 - Chest + Back + Balance(2/2)

Today was pretty easy compared to yesterday. The workout tonight was just the second half of the workout from last night. Tomorrow I hope to do Plyocide.

Monday, February 17, 2014

Day 697 - X2 Ab Ripper & Chect + Back + Balance (1/2)

I was off from work today because it's President's Day.  That allowed me to get an early start on the workout.  I started with Ab Ripper and then did the first half of Chest + Back + Balance.  I plan to finish up Chest + Back + Balance tomorrow.

Sunday, February 16, 2014

Day 696 - X2 Yoga

I got to spend the day with Kristi and Stephen at the Philly auto show. We stopped at Reading Terminal market and we're able to try a "famous" pork sandwich from Dinic's. It was delicious.

When I got home it was snowing again and the driveway had a tick covering of ice. We all spent an hour chipping up the ice, so by the time that was done I wasn't all too energetic to workout. But I knew that I had worked hard on trying to get back into a routine of working out this week and I didn't want to diminish that by slacking off at this point. As usual, I'm glad I did the yoga workout.

Looking in the mirror I see a bit of improvement, but still have a way to go to get back to where I was 6 months ago. I'm just glad back back continues to feel better so that I'm able to do the workouts.

Wednesday, February 12, 2014

Day 695 - Plyocide

When I got home tonight I wasn't all too motivated to do Plyocide, but I realized that if I didn't do it tonight that it probably wouldn't happen this week and I knew that I really needed to get this workout in for some cardio conditioning.  So, I pushed my way through the lack of motivation and got it done.  I'm glad I did.  It went okay.  I had to throw in a couple of breaks, but overall it was only moderately more difficult than it used ot be when I was in top form.  Tomorrow I hopefully will be getting to a PT appt. (as long as the weather allows).  We're supposed to have yet another snow storm rolling in tomorrow with a chance for 8-10" of snow.  What a terrible ugly winter it's been.

Day 694 - Chest + Back + Balance (2/2) & Ab Ripper

I started off tonight by doing Ab Ripper and got through it fine without having to modify. I then completed the workout I had started yesterday. It went pretty well. I felt good by the time I was done.

Monday, February 10, 2014

Day 693 - Chest + Back + Balance (1/2)

Last week I took most of the week off from workouts because we had a major ice storm that knocked out all power to our home for three days.  It was down into the teens at night, so staying warm was a real challenge and I didn't get much sleep those nights, so by Saturday when the power was back I was really dragging my butt.  The ice also brought down a tree onto our driveway, so I had the fun of cutting up a 16" trunk with my chainsaw and haling all of that off the the driveway  Wow, has it been a brutal winter here in PA.

Tonight I'm getting back to doing some workouts by getting in the first half or Chest + Back + Balance.  I plan to do the other half tomorrow night and then hopefully do Plyocide on Wednesday.  That's the plan at least.

Tuesday, February 4, 2014

Day 692 - P.A.P. Upper

I had my weekly physical therapy last night.  It continues to help some, but it's taking a long time to get my back and neck feeling better.  Tonight I got in a good workout of PAP Upper.  I'm hoping to get in at least three days of workouts this week.  Super Bowl was on Sunday and I ate a bit too much during that, but I've been trying to do better since then, so hopefully no damage done to the healthy eating.

Day 691 - 3 Mile run

I forgot to post this on Saturday.  I got out for a morning run.  The temperature got up to about the freezing mark when I got out, so it wasn't too bad for a run.  There was still snow everywhere, so thankfully the walking path on Struble Trail had been cleared so that I could safely run.  I didn't do any other workouts throughout the week, so I'm glad I got out to do this.

Day 690 - X2 Plyocide

It's a snowy cold day again here in PA.  Temps are getting close to or at zero at night and are only getting to about 20 during the day if we're lucky.  Tough winter, so running is not a great option right now.  So, instead I got in my round of Plyocide today.  My back is feeling a bit sore from the four days of working out this week, so I need to be a bit careful about how much I'm doing.  I'm still trying to eat right to see if I can get off some of the pudge around the middle that has been slowly collecting because of my decreased activity over the last few months.

Day 689 - X2 Yoga

I had a nice session of Yoga tonight after I got to go out to dinner at Chili's with Kristi.  I had the healthy platter with the 6 oz. sirloin and vegetables.  I also had some of the chips, but doing well on my calorie count.

Day 688 - X2 Ab Ripper

I decides to finish up Chest + Back + Balance that I started last night. I then did Ab Ripper. My chest and back muscles are pretty sore, but in a good way.

Day 687 - Chest & Back & Balance

I had he day off for MLK day today, so I started off the week by trying a workout that I haven't done for close to 2 months now.  I decided to ease back into it by doing a little over half of the workout and then finish it up later in the week.  That way I'm not putting too much strain on my back.  It went okay, but my reps were way down from where I was two months ago.  Sitting here now logging this entry the day after, I can tell you that my muscles are sore, but my back issues seem to be holding up to the strain okay.  I had PT right after the workout and that also seemed to help to get the muscles stretched out during PT.

Day 686 - 5K Run

It was a cold windy morning, but I still got out for a 5K trail run.  I took it at a pretty slow pace because I knew it was not going to be easy since I haven't run for a while.  First half I was feeling some pains and breathing a bit hard, but by the second half I had settled into a comfortable (slow) pace and it wasn't too bad.

Day 685 - X2 Yoga

Well, it's Friday and I got to go out to dinner with Kristi and Stephen.  We went to Red Robin, so I got my usual 500-calorie meal there (Ensada Chicken platter).  It's a very good amount of protein and not too bad on the calorie front.  Also, very tasty.  My back is again feel pretty good today, so getting through Yoga was not an issue tonight.  Tomorrow the high is supposed to be 34 and we're supposed to get some snow, but I'm hoping I can still find a time to get out for a run.  I really need to.  It's been too long and I already know I'm going to pay for the long break since my last run.  As usual I did my normal chin-ups before yoga tonight.  I was able to struggle to get to 15, but the good news is that I was still able to do 15, so my arms are hanging in there in spite of the lack of upper body workouts lately.  My core is suffering from a lack of the Ab Ripper workouts though.  I need to get back to doing those workout.

Day 684 - Plyocide

This week has been a struggle to workout so far. Work has been busy and my back/neck have been sore. I had PT on Monday and it went okay. Today my back feels better so I finally got back to a workout with Plyocide. All I can say is that I need to workout more because that was not easy tonight. I was sucking wind. I'm hoping to finish the week strong with Yoga tomorrow and a run on Saturday.

Day 683 - X2 Yoga

Well, I only got in two workouts this week because of lots of things going on this week. I was hoping to go for a run today.  It was warm enough, but it was raining hard for most of the day.  X2 Yoga was a good alternative.  My neck is a bit sore after doing yoga because of all of the stretching from the workout, but it's not too bad.

Day 682 - Plyocide

I'm a bit late logging this, but last night I did Plyocide. It was not the easiest night for me to get through it, but I did it and didn't cut it short or take it easy. Such a good workout.

Day 681 - X2 Yoga

I went out to dinner with the family tonight to celebrate Nicole's 20th birthday.  We went to Texas Roadhouse to get some steaks.  I tried to be pretty good by getting my normal (10 oz Ribeye, Salad and Broccoli). I also had some peanuts, but skipped the rolls, so overall not too bad.

Yoga tonight was good. My neck was a bit stiff, so I'm hoping yoga doesn't aggravate it too much.  I had to skip my PT appointment this week because of the weather.  My follow-up Dr. Appt. with the Orthopedist also got pushed back (scheduled for this morning) because of weather.  Overall I still think that my condition is slowly improving some.

Day 680 - X2 Plyocide

Well, I forgot to log two of my workout last week.  I did Yoga on Thursday and went for a run on Saturday along with a round of Ab Ripper.  Ab Ripper bothered my back some for a couple of days, so I've been taking it easy.  I got to do Plyocide again today and it went pretty well.  My back even felt  a bit better.
