Day 484 - Plyocide

I pushed hard tonight and I could definitely tell by the time I was done because the towel I use to wipe away the perspiration was rather heavy.  This workout is less than an hour, but it pushes me hard for the whole time.  I continue to be able to get through it without having to add in any breaks (which is more than I can say for other workouts like Base & Back).  My chest and arms are sore today from the workout last night, so I know I did it right.  Getting back into the groove with phase 2 workouts feels really good.

Day 483 - Chest + Back + Balance

I got home pretty late from work, so by the time I had dinner and got around to starting my workout it was already almost 7:00.  I brought it pretty hard, so by the time I was done I was pretty wiped out, so I couldn't bring myself to adding in Ab Ripper tonight.  I will be making sure to add it in for the other two days this week.  My reps tonight came up a bit short of the previous time, but I'm not too surprised by that since I haven't been spending a lot of time on the chest lately.  I need to make sure to not skip this workout in coming weeks because it is one of the few workouts in phase 2 that does a lot of good for the chest.

482 - Rest Day

I went to breakfast with my Dad and got an omelet,  home-fries, toast and some of Ashley's pancake, so breakfast was a lot of calories today.  I kept lunch in check pretty well and did well with dinner, so hopefully I'll stay within calories today.  I'm still light on protein.  Right now I'm at 110 grams for the day.

Day 481 - P.A.P. Upper

I got my workout in before having breakfast today so that I could leave myself time to do all of the other things that were planned for the day like cutting grass, going to a friend's ring ceremony and picking Kristi up from the airport.  I'm not a fan of working out in the morning, but it was a good idea to get it done early.  I'm also staying with my healthy eating today, so all is well.

Day 480 - Run Day

I started the day with a 5k run before work in place of doing P.A.P. Lower.  I was not comfortable doing both in the same day, but it works out well since I need to do tomorrow's workout in the morning because the rest of the day is booked.  I went out running at 6:30 today.  It was a beautiful morning.  It was a bit chilly out there, but not too bad.  I went at a bit slower pace than some other runs, but really enjoyed the chance to get out and run in the early morning for the fun of it.

Day 479 - X2 Yoga

I got a bit of a later start tonight than normal because Ashley was making dinner, so I decided to eat and then work out after dinner.  As I sit here, it's almost 9:00 and I feel really refreshed after that Yoga workout.  I'm doing very well with my eating today.  I'm only at 2100 calories for the day and I'm not hungry at this point.  I hit 190 grams of protein, so that is also good.  I'll probably have a few crackers or something and call it a day for eating.  Tomorrow I'm hoping to go for a run in the early morning before starting work since I won't have time during lunch to do it.  My hamstring has been bothering me over the last couple of day, but seems better today, so as long as it feel good in the morning I plan to get the run done.

Day 478 - P.A.P. Upper

I got home nice and early tonight and was able to get the workout in before dinner.  Today at work they had free pizza during a meeting.  I came prepared with my chicken and rice soup so that I was able to limit myself to 1 slice of veggie pizza.  Tonight for dinner I was on my own, so I made a bowl of Bob's Red Mill 7 grain hot cereal with a fried egg.  It's a combo I really enjoy for a quick dinner that is high in protein.

Day 477 - Rest Day

I had to take my rest day early for this week because my son had a concert tonight and I had to drop him off early for it, so I was there most of the night.  Oh well, I'll just start back up tomorrow with today's workout and not skip any more days this week.

Day 476 - P.A.P. Lower

I decided that I wanted to do a round of Phase 3 this week so that my legs aren't ignored for too long.  I can definitely tell it's been a couple of weeks since I've done this workout because the normal culprits (Step-up Convicts and Side-Bridge leg lifts) were tearing me up tonight.  My protein is up well tonight, so no concern there.  Hopefully the weather will allow me to go for a run on Wednesday this week.

Day 474 - Base + Back

We got to go out to dinner tonight for my birthday. We went to CheeBurger CheeBurger and I had a cheese burger with onion rings on it.  Yum.  Not exactly the healthiest thing for dinner, but hey it's my birthday.  In spite of this indulgence I did pretty well on calories for the day and protein level (156 grams).  I got through Base + Back, but ran short on time to also do Ab Ripper because of lots going on today.  I increased reps on some pull-ups and got a lot out of the cardio work.

Day 473 - X2 Yoga

Today is my birthday, so I'm now 48 years old.  I had a really stressful day at work today (which, by the way is just not right on your birthday), so doing Yoga tonight was a welcome stress reliever.  Of course, driving home with the top down on my BMW Z4 didn't hurt either :-)

We had some Chicago deep dish pizza tonight that Eli's family brought back from Chicago.  Yum. It was a small pizza and we shared it three ways, so it wasn't a huge amount.  Just enough for me.

Day 472 - X2 Shoulder + Arms & X2 Ab Ripper

It sure was nice to have the night off last night.  That gave me the motivation to bring it hard tonight.  It's not often that this workout causes me to sweat, but it did tonight.  Also worked up a good sweat during Ab Ripper, so I know I wasn't cutting any corners tonight. My daughter Ashley is back from college for the summer and she cooked dinner tonight.  She made pizza for Kristi and Stephen and made based chicken and macaroni noodles for me.  Delicious.  I'm spoiled.

It's a rest day today.  I was hoping to do a session of Ab Ripper before having to head out tonight, but I'm a bit too preoccupied with the new used car I picked up today.  Tomorrow it's back to working out.

Day 470 - Chest + Back + Balance

I got started on my workout tonight and pretty quickly realized that I was not going to have the energy or desire to do Ab Ripper at the end of tonight's workout.  Part of the reason for that is because I got a late start after cutting some grass right after work.  It's my plan to do a session of Ab Ripper tomorrow on my day off to make up the workout.  I weighed in this morning and found that I'm down to 137, so some of the weight I was starting to put on in muscle seems to have comes back off.  I've been coming up a bit short on calories a few days when doubling up on workouts, so I need to do a better job of eating enough to replenish my body.  One thing that I can do to help with this is to find some additional healthy foods to mix into my diet.  Right now my daily food list is pretty repetitive.

Day 469 - Run day

I went for a run with my daughter's boyfriend today now that they are both back from college.  We did 3+ miles on the trail run that I normally do.  He was setting the pace for me.  Must be nice to be young.  I would normally be doing Chest + Back + Balance tonight, but I had some blood drawn today, so I'm holding off resistance work and I'll count today's run in place of Plyocide tomorrow and do Chest + Back + Balance tomorrow.

Day 468 - Rest Day

I'm playing catch-up on the posts in here.  Today I did not work out because it's Sunday.  I did get to go to church with my Dad and then at Midnight pick up Ashley from the airport.  I have to do blood work tomorrow, so no eating after 8:00 was allowed.

Day 467 - Base + Back & X2 Ab Ripper

Motivation was waning a bit today, but I pressed play and got through the workout.  I always enjoy how this workout is so intense from a cardio perspective for me.  Here is me doing the Jack in the box knee tucks.  20 of these can really take it out of me.

Day 466 - X2 Yoga

Good solid night of Yoga.  My back was still a bit stiff, so yoga should help it out.  Having finished my workout, I'm sitting in the living room enjoying a rather indulgent mini Reese's blizzard from Dairy Queen that Kristi got for me.  I don't eat things like this often, so I'm just fine with enjoying this tonight.

Day 465 - Run & Shoulders + Arms & X2 Ab Ripper

Wow, busy workout day today.  I did 3.4 miles at lunch and it felt pretty good.  I didn't set a blistering pace (8:30/mile), but I enjoyed the run. 

Tonight I did Shoulders + Arms and it felt pretty good.  My elbow felt it a little bit, but I was able to bring it pretty hard tonight, so progress continues.  Ab ripper also went well.  It's been over a week since I've done Ab Ripper, so I felt it tonight.

With all of this working out I need to take in some extra calories today.

Day 464 - Rest Day

I'm enjoying a nice rest night tonight because tomorrow I plan to run during lunch (weather permitting) and then do my normal workout at night, so best to allow for some needed recovery time today.

Day 463 - X2 Plyocide

Tough day for me today since I was in an accident on the way to work.  I got rear-ended and pushed into the truck in front of me, so the car got sandwiched :-(   My back was tight from that tonight, so I was grateful for the foam roller to be able to roll out some of the stiffness.  Plyocide was a good sweaty workout tonight, so it felt pretty good to get the heart pumping at a good pace.  I am truly amazed at how I've come to appreciate a workout that I once hated with a passion.

Day 462 - 2-Mile run & Chest + Back + Balance

I got in a short run during lunch today.  I had planned to do at least my normal 5k, but got to a little over 2 miles and my legs gave out.  Having just run on Saturday I guess it was a bit soon for me to do another run today, but it was such a nice day that I couldn't resist.  I didn't sleep well again last night so that was also taking it's toll on me.  I got home from work and was debating not doing a workout because of how tired I felt.  I relaxed on the sofa for a few minutes and then had dinner and was felling better, so I decided to do my workout and I'm glad I did because I now feel a lot better.

Day 460 - Trail run & P.A.P. Upper

It was a bit cold this morning, but I got out and did a 5k run on a trail.  I got a pretty good time of 8:45 per mile (which seems pretty good to me for being on a trail).

P.A.P. Upper was good.  I'm to the point where I can do 10 chin-ups in all four rounds of complex 2.  I still hate Superman with weight in complex 1, but I endure it.  Next week it's back to phase 2 for a few weeks.

Day 459 - P.A.P. Lower

I decided to wait until after dinner tonight to workout, so it was a bit later than normal.  Thankfully I gave myself enough time to digest some of the dinner before doing the jumping around required of this workout.  It seems that side bridge leg lift is getting just a touch easier because I didn't need to take any breaks in the second half of the workout.  I still took some breaks in the first half before doing the last two rounds of step up convicts because those are brutal with 25 lb. dumbbells.

Confession time.  Slight cheat today.  It was hotdog day at work in honor of Home opening day for the Phillies and I had a hotdog and it tasted amazing.  But, the good news is that I was smart about it and also brought some Healthy Choice soup with me so that I could keep it to just one hotdog.  I remember in previous years when I would eat three hotdogs, a soft pretzel and water ice.  Wow, no wonder I used to be almost 200 lbs.  Moderation is the key to surviving the unhealthy foods that we indulge in on occasion.

Day 458 - Run Day

No rest day for me this week.  I went for a run during lunch and best my last best time by a whopping one second.  Hey, it's still faster ;-)

I'm resting tonight and looking forward to getting back to PAP Lower tomorrow night.

Day 456 - P.A.P. Upper

Oops,a bit late logging this one, but no matter.  Work was good and I'm doing a good job of holding my calories at 2400.  I'm also trying to get less calories in the late evening before bedtime in order to help me sleep.  Last night I slept without the need of any sleep aids like Benadryl or Nyquil (which is a nice change). I'm very ready to get back into a good rhythm of evening sleep.  I'm also doing pretty well on limiting my caffeine during the day.  No doubt that is helping some too.  My protein intake is now steady at a more reasonable level of 150 grams.

Day 455 - P.A.P. Lower

I decided to do phase 3 this week, so tonight I got to do PAP Lower.  I could tell it's been a little while since I've done this because the Step-up convicts and side bridge leg lifts were painful.  I did the squat cross reaches with weight this week and the elbow handled it okay (I think).  I'm going to stay under calories some tonight since I went over by so much last night.
